The administrative assistant for my company called the manager of the branch where my car was rented, at 8:30 this morning, and talked to him about this issue. He said he'd take care of it.

Around noon, not trusting Enterprise (because, you know, I'm still mightily pissed), I checked my online bank statement, and saw that there was no pending activity. I called Enterprise and spoke to one of the associates, who told me the manager was out, and that the case was the top thing on his desk and he'd probably do it just as soon as he got back. Probably? And when is he getting back -- are we talking before 4:00 PM, or before July? She said, with a chuckle in her voice, "Well, definitely before July."

So, I spoke to the assistant manager, who checked into it for me and found that it hadn't been done yet. I admit, I got a little testy on the phone (I basically threatened to camp out there all weekend with a sign proclaiming my unhappiness and eating their food because I couldn't afford to eat, but I said it reasonably and in a normal tone of voice) and she put me on hold. When she got back on, she told me she'd take care of it right away -- I was very antsy because I wanted it to get done before Bank of America closes operations for the day. She said she'd call me back with progress.

Lo and behold, she called me back at 2:30 PM to tell me that it was in process. I just checked, and I guess it takes a while to filter through to the online system.

I may yet be required to carry out my threat.

I once worked with a guy who was a former Enterprise employee and the internal politics are absolutely vicious. They don't just try to screw the customers, they also try to screw other Enterprise offices.

I would still rather rent a short-haul truck from them than from U-Haul, though.

Thinking of the stuff that went on when my car was in the shop last year, I agree with you on the first point. That guy was desperately trying to figure out a way to maximize the money he got from my insurance company while screwing over other Enterprise franchises whose cars were in his lot.

What a nice bunch of guys.

Good grief, sorry you are dealing with such a pile of douchebags. :(
